  2. The author is not Jesus Christ, but it is one of the gospel writers of the New Testament, Matthew. The speaker of the speech is Jesus Christ, immediately after his baptism by John in the Jordan River. The speech is from the gospel according to Matthew, chapters 4 through 6.

Your summary does not necessarily summarize the document. You need to talk about what exactly Jesus said, why he said it, what he means. You left out the two essential pieces of Christian text as well, the Beatitudes and the Lord's Prayer, are introduced in the document. In the context, make sure you give the exact year that it was given in order to have accurate context while reading. Lastly, the quote that you provide does not seem to be the most paramount quote. There are many strong points in Jesus' speech, as such a small phrase that you provided is not one of them.

  3. For many, this speech epitomizes the teachings of Jesus. This particular speech offers promise and hope for the poor and disenfranchised by offering "paradise." It is this aspect of early Christianity, that drew in new followers despite persecution by the Roman government.

"But now I tell you: do not take revenge on someone who does you wrong. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, let him slap your left cheek too...Love your enemies, and pray for those who mistreat you."
